The Real Inspector Hound

Rave reviews greeted this wildly popular one-act masterpiece of farce when it was recently revived in London. Feuding theatre critics Moon and Birdfoot, the first a futsy philanderer and the second a pompous and vindictive second-stringer, are swept into the whodunit they are viewing. In the hilarious spoof of Agatha Christie-like melodramas that follows, the body under the sofa proves to be… As mist rises about isolated Muldoon Manor, Moon and Birdfoot become dangerously implicated in the lethal activities of an escaped madman.

The show is a hit! Congrats to everyone. There is still time to get into the mystery. Check out the little blurb on the Gazette’s Stage to Page blog:

When was the last time a Tom Stoppard play surfaced in Montreal? Hmm. I really can’t really answer that one off the top of my head either. But I think it was a student production of his Arcadia at the National Theatre School two years ago.

Stoppard may not be ubiquitous here. But at least The Lakeshore Players haven’t forgotten this illustrious British playwright. Their production of his The Real Inspector Hound, a zany farce about feuding theatre critics, opens Thursday (Feb. 2) and continues through Feb. 11 at the Louise Chalmers Theatre of John Rennie High School in Pointe Claire.

Heidi Hawkins directs.
