Lakeshore Players Dorval and Hudson Players Club will go head-to-head in an Improv Challenge on Friday, November 24 at The Hudson Village Theatre

On Friday, November 24, two notable and longstanding community theatre groups will be going head-to-head in an Improv Challenge. Members from Lakeshore Players Dorval and Hudson Players Club will face-off at the Hudson Village Theatre, 28 Rue Wharf, Hudson. The show starts at 8pm.

This comedic event will feature popular improv games in the spirit of an actual competition. It will include: judges, a referee and even a clap-o-meter – allowing the audience to vote by volume when necessary.

“We had approached Hudson [Players Club] in the spring with the hope that both clubs could work together on a project. There has been a lot of crossover for years and many of us are old friends now, so it seemed to make sense that we do a fun activity together…on stage, of course!”, says Lakeshore Players President, Jeremy Glenn.

Hudson Players Club asked two of its members, Mary Vuorela and John Sheridan to run workshops for each group. Both Mary and John have extensive backgrounds in teaching and performing improv. Since August, both teams have been practicing under Mary and John’s tutelage and honing their improv chops for the big event on the 24th.

“It’s all in good fun, really”, says Steve Walters, Hudson Players Club President, “The idea was really just to get both clubs together for a fun activity and to show off some of the great talent we have! Of course, the winners will get bragging rights, at least until the next challenge!”

Both clubs have extensive histories, Hudson Players Club will be entering its 70th season in 2018 and Lakeshore Players Dorval celebrated their 50th anniversary in 2014.

The Improv Challenge will be Friday, November 24 at 8PM.

Tickets are 10$ and can be purchased at the door or online at
