A Comedy of Tenors is the story of one hotel suite, four tenors, two wives, three girlfriends, and a soccer stadium filled with screaming fans. What could possibly go wrong? It’s 1930s Paris and the stage is set for the concert of the century – as long as the producer can keep his Italian superstar Tito Merelli and his hot-blooded wife Maria from causing chaos. Prepare for an uproarious ride, full of mistaken identities, bedroom hijinks, and madcap delight.
Tito: One of the greatest opera singers in their world. Very insecure, whines at times. Big man with big presence. Age: 50+
Maria: Tito’s current wife, and is buxom, beautiful, loud and stylish. Always pushing Tito around and loves to be the center of attention. Age: 45+
Tatiana Racon: Very tempting, seductive prima soprano and ex-lover of Tito’s. She likes to be the center of attention. Age: 35-45+
Carlo: Another one of the world’s greatest tenors, but not so sure of himself. He is always thinking of the men who sing better than he does and always seems to think he has somewhere else to be. Age: 25+
Mimi: Daughter of Tito and Maria. Very attractive young woman who is tempting, plays games and is a constant worry to her parents. Aged: 25+
Saunders: One of the great impresarios in the world of opera. Very distinguished, nervous and funny. Age: 50+
Max: Used to be Saunders’ secretary until it was discovered in the previous play, Lend Me A Tenor, that he had a marvelous singing voice. Very nervous. Age: 30+
