Opening February 8th, 2018
CALENDAR GIRLS
Based on the Miramax motion picture
By Juliette Towhidi and Tim Firth
Directed by STEVE GILLAM

This adaptation from the 2003 Miramax film starring Helen Mirren is based on an uplifting and very inspiring true story.  A group of extraordinary women persuade one another to pose for a charity calendar, their modesty spared only by artfully placed cakes, knitting and flower arrangements, thus sparking a global phenomenon. Calendar Girls is funny, quirky, and poignant.

THE CAST

Diane ROSEMAN - Chris
Diane ROSEMAN – Chris
Diane is thrilled to be back with the Lakeshore Players Dorval after a 10 year absence, during which she was busy acting at Hudson Village Theatre and the Montreal Fringe Festival, as well as teaching Pilates and Yoga classes in the West Island. Diane began her acting career in the late 70’s in Montreal, and then went off to study in London, England at L.A.M.D.A. After returning to Montreal, finishing her degree, and starting a family, she moved to the West Island where she found a home with the Lakeshore Players Dorval, appearing in 8 shows between 1997-2007. She is happy to be back working with Steve Gillam, who was on stage with her 20 years ago in The Mousetrap. Best wishes to Robert Vernicks!
Charyl HYNDMAN - Annie
Charyl HYNDMAN – Annie
Charyl is thrilled to be playing the part of Annie in Calendar Girls. When she first heard Lakeshore Players Dorval was going to put on this production she thought about auditioning. When she found out that Steve Gillam was going to direct it, that sealed the deal! This is Charyl’s 2nd play with LPD, the 1st one being Not Now Darling. She is enjoying the challenge of the role and is truly humbled and blessed to be a part of this extremely talented cast and lovingly supportive crew. Charyl can also be seen in the yearly Murder Mysteries that take place at Dorval-Strathmore United Church. She wishes all the cast and crew a terrific run. It’s been bloody wonderful!
Christine McCAFFREY - Cora
Christine McCAFFREY – Cora
Christine has been involved in theatre both onstage and backstage, for nearly 30 years. Past experience includes productions with Calgary’s Storybook Theatre, Hudson Village Theatre, Hudson Players Club, Persephone Productions, Centaur Children’s Series, Geordie and Stone Soup Productions. Christine last appeared onstage with Lakeshore Players Dorval as Maude Bodley in Not Now Darling and is excited to be back! She dedicates her performance to her fun-loving grandmother, Gertrude Dodd who lost her life to cancer.
Sylvia MAURI - Jessie
Sylvia MAURI – Jessie
Like the character she plays, Sylvia is a retired schoolteacher. Like Jessie, she enjoys knitting and also appreciates correctness, both in language and behaviour! The similarities end there. Since bidding adieu to the classroom, Sylvia has become active in community theatre (42nd Street, In the Mood, The Widow Schwartz, Alice in Wonderland, Always a Bridesmaid, Boeing Boeing, The Great Gatsby and most recently, Vanya and Sonia and Masha and Spike), in local volunteer work, in performing in seniors’ residences as part of The Moonlighters and in starting a tap class for adults in Hudson, where she resides with her ever supportive Pierre and their pet boys. Thank you to wonderful sons, mother, sister and dear friends who always come out to see the latest show! Many heartfelt thanks to Steve (again), to Linda (again) and to the wonderful crew who made this production possible. To the Calendar Girls cast, no words can express how much getting to know you and sharing this fabulous experience has meant. And now: three… two… one… OFF!

This is her third production with Lakeshore Players Dorval, previously appearing in The Real Inspector Hound and just recently in Tartuffe, which she enjoyed thoroughly. Calendar Girls is based on a true story and one that Christina is thrilled to share with audiences. She is in awe of the director’s vision for this play and it has been such a pleasure to be surrounded by Steve, this terrific cast and great crew. Christina would like to thank her fiancé Stefan for his constant love & support, which means the world to her, and her family and friends for believing in her. She thanks you for supporting local theatre and hopes you enjoy the show!
Joyce CHABOT - Marie
Joyce CHABOT – Marie
Ey Up! Joyce is chuffed to bits to be a part of this brilliant and inspiring comedy Calendar Girls! A Lakeshore Players Dorval member since 2013, you may have seen her onstage playing Olga the Russian Grand Duchess in You Can’t Take It With You; actress Monica Wells in Rehearsal for Murder; and the Mayor’s Wife Sylvia in last season’s The Inspector General. Offstage, Joyce serves on the LP Board of Directors as Secretary, works in Finance, curls, has three great kids, and a fluffy quirky cat. Although far from being British, Joyce gets a kick out of convincing even native Brits that she is. Thanks so much to Steve for this amazing opportunity, to the incredible cast & crew, and to my loved ones for all their support. Cheers!
Gillian GILBERT - Brenda Hulse/Assistant Stage Manager
Gillian GILBERT – Brenda Hulse/Assistant Stage Manager
Gillian, along with all broccoli lovers on the planet, is thrilled to be a part of the fabulous Calendar Girls family. Originally from the U.K. she enjoyed her misspent youth singing in rock bands (notably with Steve Hackett/ Genesis). In Canada, she appeared at Le Festin du Governeur and the Mount Royal Operatic Society. Over the years with Lakeshore Players Dorval Gillian has loved being involved with her theatre family both backstage & on stage & thanks the entire cast & crew (especially Holli) for making theatre life such a rich and rewarding experience.

Shane NICHOL – John
Shane would like to thank his wife Dana for all the love and support a man could want and for letting him partake in this wonderful experience. It’s been a fourteen-year absence from theatre for Shane, but thanks to the love and support of friends and family and a random Facebook post from friends Lisa and Christina was able to be a part of Lakeshore Players Dorval. Shane was able to put his Dawson Professional Theatre diploma to good use by being stage manager for our production of Tartuffe. He thanks that positive experience from the director, cast and crew of Tartuffe for the reawakening of his theatre aspirations. These last couple months working on Calendar Girls has been a pure delight and couldn’t ask for a better director, cast or crew. To my McGill team: thank you from the bottom of my heart for letting me play again and to you the audience, thank you for the support!! Shane will again be working with Lakeshore Players Dorval behind the scenes as stage manager for our next show Rough Justice. Shane would like to thank his fellow Lakeshore Players Dorval members for making him feel like part of the family. THE CREW

Kosta KOKOSOPOULOS - Co-Producer
Kosta KOKOSOPOULOS – Co-Producer
Konstantin became a member of Lakeshore Players Dorval in 2006, and has since appeared onstage in about ten of their productions, including Fools, Twelve Angry Jurors, Bedtime Stories, Shakespeare in Hollywood, and The Curious Savage. Last season, he co-produced Crimes of the Heart with Jim Voysey. Apparently not having learned his lesson from that ordeal…uh, er… experience, he is back this season, producing with Jim once again, this time this British comedy gem, Calendar Girls. He wishes to thank and congratulate Steve, and the entire cast and crew, for each of their immeasurable talents and contributions to the show. He also wishes our beloved audience a wonderful time.
Jim VOYSEY - Co-Producer
Jim VOYSEY – Co-Producer
Jim joined Lakeshore Players Dorval last year playing Bobby Frick in The Inspector General. Since then he has become a passionate and active member of the group signing up for everything from last spring’s play reading festival to co-producing Crimes of the Heart and performing in the recent Improv Challenge (we won!). This will be his second time co-producing with his partner in crime Kosta. He is also happy to be working with director Steve Gillam and the very talented cast and crew that have been assembled. Enjoy the show!
Linda SHESHKO - Stage Manager
Linda SHESHKO – Stage Manager
This is Linda’s ninth season with Lakeshore Players Dorval, and her third go-round as Stage Manager. After serving as Board Secretary for three years and playing a variety of roles onstage, she enjoys the challenges of this important but largely invisible job. She is grateful to all concerned in this production for their talent, dedication, and hard work. On with the show!
Karen PEARCE - Costumes
Karen PEARCE – Costumes
Karen has been involved in many aspects of theatre production over the years; producer, director, choreographer but at some point in time Karen realized that costuming was a great excuse to expand her wardrobe, engage in a genetically predetermined hoarding tendency (It’s not my fault, it’s in my genes) and stay in shape (weight training!). She’s on her way to having the biggest walk-in closet on the West Island (some people call them garages). If you’re a Lakeshore Players Dorval regular you’ve probably seen Karen’s work over the past couple of years in Picasso at the Lapin Agile, The Cat’s Meow, and And Then There Were None, The Mousetrap, and Tartuffe. Karen loves to paint a picture with color, pattern and sparkle and some people say they can recognize her costumes even before reading the program (Karen hopes this is a good thing). Karen is grateful to LP for their support and yes she is still working on the biggest closet clean up ever, Westwood Storage. Any volunteers?

Julien De La SABLONNIÈRE – Lighting Designer
Julien is very please to do his first Lakeshore Players Dorval lighting design. As a graduate of the JAC Theatre Production program, he has been involved in the professional lighting industry for more than 10 years. Holli DRUM - Assistant Stage Manager
Holli DRUM – Assistant Stage Manager
Holli has been a Lakeshore Players Dorval staple for more than 20 years, and a priceless member of the backstage team. In her other life, Holli is also involved with the Girl Guides and Brownies in Dorval.
